Hi Bala

Ive just read the daily mail link you have put on here and now its just confused me more. i have cholesterol of 5.7 and have been put on statins. Lipitor 20mg per day. I have an under active thyroid, i smoked but have given up 1 month ago, lost 7lbs in weight through diet and exercise. but am still overweight by 1 stone. My dad has angina and high cholesterol and so does my mum. should i be on statins?

Hello,

Like you, have tried for nearly two years to reduce my cholesterol, in the end gave in to Statin four months ago. Have an appointment with GP on Wednesday this week to discuss " Do I need statin?"

We need statin for our body to function. Will let you know.

my level is about 6 and i have no intention of taking statins, my GP can not blackmail, force or use any other means to put me on statins when the only thing wrong is my chol level is above the national average

HI,

We all have one life!, we all ahould enjoy it. Medication, some medication have their benefit. When it comes to station, I am not sure. Have benn looking into statin for nearly two years. Who makes the money? and who spend the money?. I am careful on my food intake, nowdays I have butter on tost, rockfort chease, and other godd food. Gamble?, getting into my car to come to work via a M4 is a gamble to me!

No idea what my cholesterol is and not interested, my body makes exactly what it needs and no more, if I am ill my cholesterol will be higher than normal and if not it will be normal for me, there is no good or bad cholesterol (fact). I eat what I want so long as it is not processed and doesn't have sugar added, I avoid carbs as they are not essential for life and embrace fats as they are essential, so long as they are natural. Sugar is the killer along with stress, all of the information is available from Zoe Harcombe, I would never consider taking a statin as the whole premiss seems to accept that cholesterol is bad and this is so wrong, the statin nation DVD watched some time ago was a real eye opener, along with the thoughts of Dr Malcombe Kendrick. If cholesterol was so bad then it would be easily seen by the high mortality rate from heart disease in those countries that have nationally high cholesterol readings but the opposite is true, the 21 nation study shows this, not the cherry picked seven country study.
