Eating well, for when you aren't at your best ...

Obviously, its flu season. and cough and cold season. In my case, it seems to be "I've picked up some other useless idiots bug!" season.

From which you may reasonably, and correctly, conclude that I have a winter bug from hell.

I'm coughing like I need a truck load of Fishermen's friends, as cold as though I pitched up in the Antarctic, and as miserable as though I was at work. Ok, the last bit is normal for me! :-)

Today, I made one of my favourite foods, truly Ireland's greatest gift to the culinary world.

Irish stew.

Such a humble food, but get it right, and my goodness it is so tasty.

I have enough left for tomorrow. I shall eat well tomorrow.

But the mood has lifted right way. It has put energy in myself. It has put heat into me.

We are what we eat, and listening to your body when it tells you it needs calories, and vegetables, is just the right note I needed.

It won't make me better immediately; I think i need a few days off before I feel right. But the thing is, my mood is where now it should be. I feel balanced. I feel like myself. I'm a bit under par, and need to rest a bit, but my mood is where I want it.

I am glad I listened to what my body told me it needed. Good healthy, low fat, but tasty, nutritious food. By the bowlful.

I may now slope off and sneak some left overs.

There is so much stuff out there about the "best diets". Nah.

Listen to your body.

A Vegan diet can be healthy, but it can also be "all chips". A meat heavy diet can be healthy, but moderation is needed. Bring balance to life in all you do,

Find what works for you. I'm just annoyed that it took a blooming heavy cold to remind me that in Winter, I do rather like casseroles .....
