Hi Suzie!

Welcome aboard! Great to have you join us!

I can't tell you what you should do. It sounds like you may have options to disguise or mitigate the scar, but as you say, you are trying to love yourself as you are. I wish I had the option! short of a hat hiding my lumps, its not really possible.

If that is what works for you, then I wholeheartedly support and applaud you in your efforts!

I've heard it said that it can take real bravery to look in the mirror and not be scared of what you see. To me, that is just a picture. The real you is so much more than your scar. Yes, its part of you, but its just a part of the 1 year old version of you that hopefully saw off the cancer you had then. You became a bit of winner back then, I must say. And you're personality will have grown and developed over those years.

So whatever works for you should be applauded. And if you need us, we'll be so happy to hear from you.

Wishing you all the very best.

hello Suzannah,

I am sorry to hear you are struggling and had to deal with cancer. Facial differences can be very hard to deal with. I cannot give any suggestions except that I know we are typically harder on ourselves and that others do not see us just for our one thing we focus on the most-our facial difference. We are so much more than that.

Do you have a good support system of family and friends you can talk to discuss how you are feeling? This has helped me and, as well, ongoing talking with a mental health professional who I can go through my feelings with. They are a very good sounding board as they can help you understand/correct how you feel and think about yourself. I am trying to think of myself as a whole package and not just the bits and pieces I perceive are “flaws”. Trust me, I have struggle and some days continue to do so, but I am seeing some days are better than others.

I hope today is a good day for you. As well, you will get others on here chiming in to give suggestions of what has helped them.

Here to talk if you need!
