Acromegaly

I would like to know if there other women who have the condition called familial acromegaly. I inherited that condition from my father and it never bothered him that he had large facial bones. Society is very judgement of a woman's appearance, I think that men who who have this condition are not judged so severely as women. Most of my abuse is done in a very underhand way. Any abuse, of course, is very damaging whether physical of mental.

Hi Dressmaker100, welcome to the community and thanks for posting.

I'm sorry to hear you've found people to be so harsh and judgmental towards you. Coping with other people's reactions can be one of the toughest things about living with a visible difference - we have lots of articles on this topic you can find here: changingfaces.org.uk/advice....

It might be that we don't yet have anyone else here with familial acromegaly, but I'm sure there will be overlap with other people's experiences, so we'd encourage you to keep sharing!
