Children’s books for siblings of a disfigured person?

My friend has two normal little girls and now a third who was born with albinism. I am hoping to find a child’s picture book that their parents could read to them that features a family/families with a albino sibling, but any disfigurement or disability could be helpful.

I’ll visit with our local children’s librarian and independent booksellers, but I’m wondering if anyone on here has found a book that might fit the bill.

I feel this little girl is lucky to have two big sisters to be her friends and her defenders from what is sure to be a challenging childhood. Imagine an oldest child or an “only” having to pioneer her way through life with such a visible disadvantage.

Hi OutdoorsyGal,

I have a visible difference myself and my sister has a different medical condition that is not visible but growing up we both had books that explained our conditions. They were very helpful and I still have mine to this day! I think mine was given to me by a charity. I would advise that you do a bit of searching for charities or support groups for albinism because maybe they'd be able to provide a book. Also have a look online. You'd be amazed at what you can find on there these days! Good luck and congratulations to your friend on her new child!😊
