it’s hard job caring and there is worry of health. I thinking caring takes it out of you. But chat here there or reading newspaper or watching sports or something of interest give you both happiness or satisfaction

When you’re not in a good situation it’s very difficult to feel happy . I think the trick is not to seek happiness but to find a distraction from the pain , stress etc that you’re going through . When I was caring for my husband I found it very difficult to be “happy” for many years but I did find comfort and peace through gardening or even just being in the garden Being outdoors and busy doing something I’d always enjoyed - even for a short time each day kept me sane. You’re situation will change and you will feel better eventually but being “happy” isn’t a permanent state for any of us however good or bad our situation , try aiming for being content and at peace with yourself if only for a short time each day as a first small step towards feeling better . I hope you do feel better very soon 🙏 do let us know how you progress 😊

there is a lot of truth in the old saying that happiness is not so much about getting what you want but wanting what you get. learning find joy or beauty in everything that comes your way however small and insignificant

Hi rameshadhikari,

Research has shown that keeping a 'Gratitude Diary' of 'Things for which I am grateful' enables us to feel more positive and, therefore, happier. It promotes positive feelings.

Write down the 'simplest' things, e.g. a lovely mug of tea/coffee, a favourite TV prog, a comfy bed, a favourite piece of music, etc. Complete the diary as you wish but, perhaps, start daily.

Also, have you thought of asking your GP or Hospital Consultant for a referral for Cognitive Behaviour therapy?

Hope these hints help.

I know the feeling. There is very little joy in my life currently. I feel like a machine doing the same thing day in and day out and I feel numb ..
