Hello magic1309, that sounds like a bit of a shock for you but as you say, at least you know now. Many live well with autism and I’m sure you will do well. Do you have any support? I hope so and we’re here to chat anytime.
Take care. Xxxx
Hi magic1309, Sorry I'm a little late in replying to your post. Somehow I missed it until just now.
I'm glad this hasn't come as a complete shock to you, but I hope you won't feel too upset about the diagnosis of autism.
As you probably already know 'Autism', covers a really big spectrum of symptoms, so please don't anticipate any problems that you hear that others have. They may well not apply to you at all.
I have several friends with children with autism and both are doing really well. The younger of the two is happily integrated in his school and the other is now grown up and working happily as an accountant, having first studied law!
I always think that one of the best ways to help with something new, to get used to it, is to talk to others with the same challenges as yourself. You'll know what these are. It will be the same things that led to your being diagnosed in the first place.
Join some online forums and chat with people who are living their lives in a similar way to yours. That way you can get first hand help from people who know and understand what you are going through.
And this is the web address of the National Autism Society which I'm sure will have lots of support and information.
Very best wishes and as sassy59 has already said, please remember we are here too, if you need some general support.
