I guess those of us in England have something new to get used to today, if we haven;t done it previously, in the mandatory wearing of masks in enclosed spaces. It won't make much of a difference to me as I've been doing it routinely for a while anyway. I can't make a fuss over anything that might help in our fight against covid-19. I'm not that invested in how effective it is, or isn't. I think it won't do harm and that's good enough for me.
But I do hope that anyone with a legitimate reason to be exempted will not find themselves bullied or scorned, because quite often people are far too judgmental without properly checking on facts.
More frivolously I had a nice day out with my husband yesterday as it was his birthday. Quite a contrast with last year when he chose a day in London and we tramped Oxford Street in searing heat and jumped on and off the Tube without a care in the world.
This year it was a car drive into the country. We called in at Lepe Beach in the New Forest and went for a stroll, then went on to Lymington and spent some time, before driving through the forest on a meandering route home.
When we reached Southampton we stopped for some fuel and at one point found ourselves at a red light facing the massive cranes and containers of Southampton Port.
I was struck by the massive contrast. I loved my time in the forest but I don't find industrial scenes unpleasant. To me it was looking at a massive power-house, with thousands of huge containers of goods entering and exiting the country. I find that exciting too, just as I do when I'm near an airport and see huge aircraft taking off and landing.
Whatever sort of week you've had, I hope you can look forward to something over the coming weekend.
Hi Callendersgal, not a bad week thank you. Went all too quickly though as usual. We haven’t done very much really apart from venturing to a local town for a look round. Masks firmly in place.
Just returned from our local garden centre where we had a coffee and bought some impatiens which I’ll plant out after lunch. All very safe with lots of hand sanitiser and one way system in place. Felt very safe and would go again.
Our youngest son is depressed as can’t find work. I’ve tried to reassure him but he’s very down. His P45 and birth certificate have gone off with his replacement for a lost driving licence. No word on that as DVLA has a huge backlog. Not great but trying to tension optimistic. What a mess.
Have a great weekend everyone. Love to all. Xxxx❤️❤️💖
searing heat in London? -lucky thing lol It was just he opposite in the northern hemisphere of the country lol -searing rain !!! all day
I always said that at some point we re going to be made to wear a mask in shops - we ll be told we ve got to wer them at home next -it woudnt surprise me
Well,a visit to the solicitor which proved quite advantageous, mowed the lawn and already it needs doing again,i made a chocolate cake and a Lasagne, and i actually go out less than ever, once every ten days or so now,i have been wearing a mask for quite a long time and i dont mind at all,if it helps its good news. Its certainly a massive change for me as someone who has always been very social and now i'm not social at all,and the funny thing is i really dont mind much,i eat when i like,i go to bed when i like, and if i've not vacuumed i dont mind that either.
Hi secrets22, although it's a really radical change to have forced on you when you are bereaved, it's true that there are compensations to being a single person and able to eat when you like and make your daily routine truly your own. It's good to be able to find some little positives and I'd say one of those is definitely ignoring housework when you don't feel like doing any! 😄
