Quotation for Sunday 31st May 2020

Hi everyone,

I had an exciting day yesterday. My birthday's approaching and my daughter and granddaughter were determined to try to make it as special for me as is possible during lockdown. So they travelled 70 miles to meet me for a picnic in a nearby park.

It was very surreal sitting so far apart, and by arrangement we'd made our own picnics but using the same recipes! My daughter's birthday is in a couple of weeks too, so we had a gift exchange in the no-man's land between us and it felt almost like a prisoner exchange in a spy novel.

We sat for a very long time until it was almost dark and the air was chilly, and then reluctantly waved goodbye, but despite the oddness of it all, it was a real lift to the spirits to meet up with loved ones.

And with that in mind, here's today's quotation from Mahatma Gandhi.

I am so pleased for you, you sound as if you all had a wonderful day. It does show there is a light at the end of the tunnel if we look for it. Have a really good birthday when it arrives, you have the memories to accompany it.
