A few rambling thoughts for Friday

Good morning everyone,

Friday’s rolled around again I see!

At least the calendar says so! I don’t know about all of you, but it’s quite hard to keep a handle on what day it is. Several times this week I’ve felt convinced it was a different day, but in one way it’s quite nice to be casual about whether it’s Wednesday or Saturday. 😳

How are you all currently coping. What sorts of difficulty are you all coming up against ?

I’m so lucky that my husband is doing all our shopping, as I’m hearing horror stories about how even vulnerable people are finding it impossible to get slots for supermarket shopping online.

Yesterday my daughter contacted me, needing support as she has possibly contracted COVID-19. Happily it seems to be a mild case, but is of course a source of worry for us all. But she's remaining cheerful and positive.

Other than that my own biggest and trivial concern is that yesterday I woke up to find my hair is just going past the point where I’d have gone and had it cut. I’ve got a sort of plan in place for when it starts looking really untidy and hanging in my eyes that won’t end in my chopping at it myself with scissors.

Despite anything we’re having to put up with, spring’s definitely with us now. The trees outside are bursting into leaf. I’m not lucky enough to have anything other than those in plain view outside my apartment, but I hope that a lot of you have gardens which are treating you to some spring colours. It can help lift your mood to be able to be outside in what’s a relatively safe place to be.

On that note does anyone have any photos of their gardens which they’d like to share? Please do feel free to post, if you have.

I’m so pleased to say that my brother-in-law is doing better than earlier this week when he had a dementia crisis in the wee small hours. It will happen again sooner or later, I'm sure, but I’ve talked through a few things with my sister, so she’s feeling more cheerful now. She's agreed to always carry her mobile phone with her anywhere in the house, and I had her fill in her Herbert Protocol forms, just in case my brother in law manages to leave the house unknown to her, and goes astray.

(If anyone is wondering what that is, it’s a simple system for helping your local police force to locate a missing person with reduced cognition, in the event that they go missing, and the details are in a pinned post in the Caring Community, which you can find by searching the pinned posts for The Herbert Protocol).

I’m hoping that everyone will find at least a few little things they can feel happy about over the coming weekend.

We are all very challenged to find things to keep us cheerful and upbeat.

If anyone is feeling alone, please do post on the forum, or even contact me by private message, so you can at least get some support from fellow-members or myself.

Take care everyone. I hope you all continue to remain safe and well. 🙏🌈⭐️

Cant believe it’s Friday already Callendersgal and I’m finding the time isn’t dragging at all. I try to keep busy and keep moving though I must confess I’m not always sure of what day it is.

I’m so pleased your brother in law is doing better and your dear sister is feeling more able to cope now. It must be very difficult I’m sure.

We’re lucky enough to have family nearby so we can wave through the window and chat over FaceTime.

I’ll try and upload a photo of our garden if I can. It’s not big but it’s ours.

Best wishes to you and your daughter. Hope she recovers well.

Stay safe xxxxxx

I was going to post some photos. Can someone tell me how please?

Great to hear Karen.

It's quite easy and I hope I can explain it in a way you can understand. It may vary slightly according to the type of device you use to generally post on the community., ie. computer/phone/tablet. If you start a new post in the usual way, and give it a title (it won't post anything unless you do that first). Best to first explain what you are posting and then click the add photo button which appears at the end and just outside of the box you use to post text. When you do that you should get a list of the photos you have available on your device come up, and you can select them one by one and add them.

Good luck because I'll really enjoy seeing them 😊
