I've been diagnosed with epilepsy for nearly two years now, but I'm now doubting my diagnosis. I've had lots of bad experiences in the past, my ex cheating on me, smashing the house up, domestic abuse, police, court, social services, loosing my job and driving license. I'm now beginning to think that I have nes due to my past, and is stress related, just wondered if anyone can relate to this???

Epilepsy or not?
Oh my goodness, you poor thing, no wonder you are ill. How about asking your doctor to refer you to a neurologist for re-assessment.
Do hope your life is simpler now.

Hi Yvonne1980, Welcome to our community. You sound like you've had a really torrid time of it poor thing. I agree with 'exhaustedwife', that maybe it's time to have a review with your GP and get a referral to a neurologist, we are not qualified to advise you in this. Often medical conditions do overlap or have similar features, but you need the expertise and tests that only a specialist doctor can give.
Do keep in touch with us, we are always here with a listening ear and can hopefully point you in the right direction.
Best wishes
Hello Yvonne, I definitely agree with the others. Have your GP refer you to a Neuro so that they can run the necessary tests to make sure. Epilepsy and NES can be confused with each other so easily by doctors so the proper testing needs to be done, I went through some abuse as a child, but stuffed it away for years and years until 9 years ago I started having crazy symptoms that No one could find answers for and they have diagnosed me with Functional Neurological Disorder or FND. Part of the symptoms are NES. They did EEG's that came out negative for epilepsy, and several neurologists said.. Oh its just NES. however the tests they ran were during the day, and the times I had the most problems were at night. So last year, I finally asked to see if there was anything else we could do. My Neuro did a 3 day EEG, day and night. Well the results came in and she was very surprised.. I was having NES... AND. Epileptic seizures, so you never know. But it is definitely best to have everything checked out.
Wish you the best and that you can get answers.
