I started my claim in March 2017, got a response within a few days and didn't hear again until I called them in August. They claimed not to have heard anything at all but when I sent them a copy of their response via email when still on the phone they listened. Within 24 hours all monies were paid into my bank. CALL them and have all documentation to hand. I felt if they can do this to me how much interest of my dues have they earnt.
It can take up to 6-8 weeks for the claim to be sorted & it will be back dated from the date you put on your claim of when you started to care for your husband
Hi Familytree64, and welcome to the forum. As other people have posted, do give them a call and it is always a good idea to keep copies of all correspondence. You will also find some useful information on the Related Posts and Pinned Posts to the right of the screen. I hope this is helpful. Best wishes.
Sadly, I've had numerous dealings with various government agencies and getting a response has always taken far longer than the projected time scale. If you continue to get no joy, contact your MP. I had to do so recently and responses that were taking months suddenly were answered within days. Good luck.
We are talking about a government dept here and there has been a public holiday since you sent off your form, a month + a few days is nothing, my application took 8weeks without a public holiday, stick with it they will get around to it, although a telephone chase wouldn't be out of order. When you do get the award do try for the carers allowance which you MAY be also entitled to as the attendance allowance is awarded to your husband not you. If you do get it (after time) it should help with you overall outgoings.
