Carers allowance: If my daughter claims... - Care Community
Carers allowance
Hi Ellie04,
When it comes to individual cases, like that of your daughter, I'd advise that she contacts your nearest Citizens' Advice Bureau first, for an appointment to discuss the way forward with any claim for Carer's Allowance. It really does give great, impartial and accurate advice and can sometimes help with form filling, etc.
Best wishes.
Hi Ellie04, this is a complex one as it depends on what benefits your daughter receives, and would no doubt come into the overlapping benefit rules. But sometimes it pays to claim as a carer even if you don't get the allowance. You really need some benefits advice from a specialist. Good luck to you and your daughter.
Hi Ellie04, welcome to this supportive community. The advice you have already received is very sound. Have you looked at the Pinned posts section to the right of this screen at the 'Carer's Allowance' posts. These contain useful up to date information and a link to the Government website gov.uk/carers-allowance
Citizen's Advice are a great unbiased service, also, if you have a local Independent Living Centre near you they too offer free impartial advice. I do hope you and your daughter manage to get something sorted out that's beneficial to you all. Good Luck. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.
Best Wishes.
