Can I claim carers allounce for my husband he really is struggling

It's very unfair and should be changed, but once you get your retirement pension you can..'t claim carers allowance. I think he could claim attendance allowance which would help. We lost our carers allowance because they say your old age pension is a benefit, even though we paid into it !n.

Have you tried to get an allowance for him may I ask? Perhaps speaking with his GP to see if he/she will sign a declaration if you apply for forms to fill in. It is a long process, however there is assistance to complete the forms from Age UK etc. Also if you or he are still driving you could also apply for a blue badge for disabled parking. There are also aids for in the home which might enable him to maintain his independence. Good luck.
