Introducing myself
Welcome, MaiSmith. You will find supportive people here. When I cared for my mother, who had Alzheimer's there were no support groups I knew of in upstate New York where I lived. Her disease was advanced, and she did not recognize people. So far, at 86, I am blessed that I have not been touched by Alzheimer's, which runs in my mother's family. My late husband also had Alzheimer's but was never hostile like my mother. What is your situation? Do you have anyone assisting or supporting you?
hi. Yes, we are in Hampshire, England. We have a fantastic network of support groups so I am lucky. There is always someone at the end if the telephone if I have any problems. My husband doesn't get aggressive but that could change at any time. Thank you for your contact.
I care for him t home, and I have support from the older people's mental health team at the hospital, Dementia Advice Service, and Princess Royal Trust for Carers. When my hubby was first diagnosed we were enrolled on the Memory Matters Course run by the Opmh team. That was so useful and the information we gained from it was incredible..
Hi Mai, Welcome. I have a husband with a brain injury which is now becoming dementia too and a 100 yr old mother whose memory is now beginning to get very poor. She is in the process of being diagnosed at the moment.
Yes, it seems that way. I enjoy learning about what is available to you.
