I've had tinnitus since around 2012 when I went on a short course of an anxiety treatment drug. Its been steady ever since, peaking now and again but never getting too much worse. Just after Christmas I went quite deaf in one ear with a different tinnitus sound which lasted for a few days and then at the same time the GP prescribed Colchicine for me, its to treat arthritis partially, a build up of crystals in joints.
I now have a really bad spike a day after taking it and it doesn't seem to be going away. I'm sitting here at the PC with a pink noise generator running which is helpful. I'm now worried that the drug may have elevated my Tinnitus permanently as it doesn't seem to be receding and its very concerning Any experiences of Colchicine causing T?

Good morning , I do honestly believe drugs have terrible side affects. . We do need help with medication of course we do, but now your aware of this only take the drugs you really need. It is quite possible too that my tinnitus might have been caused this way.
Hi ..I have had tinnius for over 5 years …it started when my surgeon put a grommet in my ear. I have had 7 operations on my ear and now onto my second cochlear implant. I’ve had a lot of pain and anxiety so I do take pain killers and an anti depressant. I think they do spike my tinnitus but it’s better than having so much pain and anxiety. Good luck and keep calm 🦋🦋🦋
After a conversation with my GP today Ive been told my potassium levels are above normal. It seems they were approaching abnormal last June. Having researched I find that high potassium levels can cause tinnitus to become louder!
