Sarah I've been taking Betahistine 16mg 3 times a day since I was diagnosed with tinnitus/ vertigo... It doesn't help the ringing in my ears from the tinnitus but it has stopped the vertigo attacks which were terrible.. I sometimes get a little dizziness but nothing like a full blown vertigo attack since I was prescribed the Betahistine... One thing I've noticed is I do occasionally get a headache for a while after taking the Betahistine but it soon passes.. hope this helps.

Thank you - I have had this feeling today - and it was more noticed before I took my second tablet - which I took 6 hours after the first. I'm hoping once I build things up with this I can push each tablet to 8 hours apart.

Did you experience any headaches after you took the Betahistine?

I have only been taking it 4 days and had some headaches yesterday but nothing since.

My experience with Betahistine at that dosage is that it stops vertigo attacks completely. I've had a couple of 'pseudo' attacks when I experience dizziness and slight confusion which I expect to progress to a full-on vertigo attack. I had one yesterday and lay down for 45 minutes and it passed. I originally developed Menieres 40 years ago and was on Betahistine then but it was only in April this year that it returned (which was something of a shock) so I was put back on Betahistine. So far so good and hopefully it will work well for you also.

Hi Sarah I been on 4 a day since I was 27, they do help dizziness, used to get them regular, 8 months off work. Lay on the bed and windows open did trick for me. Had Menieres 43 years ago, started off just being sick and then gradually got much worse. 4 a day has sorted me out, and can honestly say have only had 3 attacks but nothing like they used to be. Cut down on Salt intake worked for me.

Sleep is the biggest problem even to this day Sarah, can only sleep on left side, if I sleep on the Right side I know I get dizzy, been like this since having this dreadful disease. Now I can exercise walk every day, had it so bad in the Dark days was off Work for 8months. Driving is ok, as you get to know when you are going to have attacks. When the weather changes from hot to rainy days, can guarantee I feel it bad Ears start banging. Also to Much Salt intake. I had 80% loss in the bad ear, worked in a warehouse so had to use the headset on the good ear, off course made up for bad, in the end, had 70% loss in that ear wear hearing aids.

I think it works for me. On quite a low dose, 2 or 3 8mg tabs per day, but when I stopped after two years without an attack I had a severe one 6 weeks later pretty much with no warning.

I get patches of ear pressure when I think one is coming but doesn’t develop into a full attack.

I also take couple of drops of CBD oil that’s probably a placebo but given as I stopped taking it the same time I stopped the betahistamine I’m not going to risk stopping it.

No I’ve made no adjustments to sleeping, be grateful if T allowed me more :). Exercise - I walk a lot but I was never particularly sporty. I think I’m one of the fortunate ones I get no balance issues except during an attack. I assume your younger than me, the majority of people are! I do hope you get to see the right person and get this under control. The meniers society has a link on their page to specialists listed by area. You are quite within your rights to ask to see a specific person on referral by your GP. Try to see a neurotoligist, the T in the middle is important they specialise in inner ear disorders. Not a neurologist, who are more general.

Works for me too. 16mg three times a day and I only feel a little dizzy for a couple of hours about once a month. No headache.

I've just had a hip replacement so not much exercise recently. Always sleep on my side, no issues with that. Fingers crossed that all stays well!
