Possibly the result of the activity of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ)? The masseter muscle that works the jaw is one of the strongest in the human body. It's why night-time tooth grinding (bruxism) breaks teeth. The structure is also bang slap on top of the ears, the trigeminal nerves and a host of other nerves. All could be contributing to tinnitus during/after eating.

Might be worth having a word with your dentist to see if all is well with your TMJ and, if it is, getting some cranial massage from a good chiropractor to take the tension out of the muscles in your head/neck. Don't let the chiro do anything too fierce though! Just gentle massage and trigger point release. The dentist will advise if the TMJ needs correction.

Hope that helps!

I often get T after eating as I have Eustacian tube dysfunction, the tube that connects yr ear to the back of yr throat, if ots blocked eating can cause T to become worse with me. Hope this helps, Hxx

That’s interesting CamperT25.I’ve often wondered about Eustachian tube dysfunction .

Do you know if it’s possible to unblock this tube ???

Yes you can, U need something like Olbas Oil or vicks vapour, put that in a bowl and add hot, not boiling, water, then pop yr head over the bowl and inhale the vapours, helps if u also pop a towel over yr head. Do this for 10 mins at a time. Do this up to 4 times a day. Really helps.

Gosh that’s interesting starveycat , so it looks very much like foods and drink are a trigger .

Hi I’ve been told that histamines in certain food and all alcohol can make it flare up. Defo the case with alcohol, for me red wine’s particularly bad. The foods that are high in histamines surprised me though spinach, avacado among many. Don’t know if anyone else knows more about this?

Yes interesting about the Eustachian tube but recently had mri scan with contrast on brain for follow up for pineal gland cyst but wondering would that pick up any problems with the Eustachian tube and red wine flares up my tinnitus as well

Most likely anything that impacts the brain chemically causes a perceptible (mostly temporary) spike, but as "bridgeit" says it could be TMJ disorder which I also have myself (but the doctors refuse to treat as it is not "too severe" despite it also impacting my tinnitus).
