Tinnitus linked to mucus behind eardrum

hi folks,

I've been suffering from Tinnitus in my left ear for around three months now. I had some earwax removed a few weeks after my symptoms began, but this did not make any difference.

During the earwax removal procedure, they took some photos of the inside of my ears, just to show me how much wax was there. The woman from the clinic pointed out a darker area behind my right ear drum and said she believes this is a build up of mucus. This has led me to look into Eustachian Tube Dysfunction and noted that tinnitus is a related symptom.

My GP referred me to an Audiologist, but I am still waiting for my appointment date. So far we have not discussed the possibility of an ENT clinic appointment.

Does anyone have any experience of tinnitus being caused by a build up of mucus behind the ear drums?

thanks in advance

R

Hello,Well I think I might have blocked Eustachian tubes with my tinnitus as I have a lot of ear pressure.

If you look for a company called “ blooms” here on the website , I recently had a long phone call appointment with one of their audiologists and he was very very good. I got the appointment within a week and it was free. I didn’t nead hearing aids as I have no

Hearing loss . He says I need to go back to my GP about this ear pressure , I think you should go on the ENT waiting list , you might as well and see if they can help you . We all have so many issues and problems it’s difficult to know who to turn to for help.

Good luck

Hi rabbits,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I'm going to contact my GP today and ask to go on the ENT waiting list. As you say, might as well give it a go.

I'll have a look into blooms as well. Thanks

Cheers

Good luck on your tinnitus journey . There does come a point believe it or not when the brain starts to accept the tinnitus. How it works exactly I don’t know, I’m better than I was , just this ear pressure that’s bugging me more than the noise of tinnitus .

Hi Roc_M. The mucus build up idea is very interesting. I am constantly clearing my throat, although I have had an MRI and nothing showed up, Have you seen the Adam Fields YouTube video? He goes through various exercises to help with mucus buildup and I try to do these most days. Give it a go. Hope it helps

Thank you for sharing this - that's very interesting! I am wondering if this is an issue I have. I am a very mucussy person so I am wondering if this is affecting me as well.

👍 thank you! I hope things progress for you.

Hi! How are you doing? I also started experiencing tinnitus when I had an earwax buildup. But having addressed an ear wax removal clinic audiologyisland.com/service... and gone through the procedure there, I felt the relief almost at once, and the ear ringing stopped totally in several days, I guess. Maybe I had another case.
