just been to the doctors who checked my ears and they said I have a retracted eardrum. It’s on the same side as my tinnitus. Just wondered if anybody else had any experience with this? I’ve had tinnitus 6 years and chronic for about 9 months. I’ve had trouble equalising the pressure in my ears for years and I wonder if that’s what’s caused my tinnitus. The tinnitus “specialists” at my hospital didn’t even pick up on this. No surprise really as they didn’t even know what somatic tinnitus was. 🤷🏻♂️

that’s good that for once a GP has come up trumps !!!! If only all gp s would take such an interest.
Good luck to you
thanks. The lady I saw was excellent. She’s made an emergency referral to the e.n.t. She was actually interested in helping me which was a nice change. She phoned me a couple of hours of my appointment to tell me what she had written to the hospital. Glad to know there are still people out there who care and do their jobs properly. All the best.
OMG, thats great you have answer probably to your T. Such a shame your medical problem only just been found by Professionals.
thank you. Like you say, shame it wasn’t picked up earlier. Ive told multiple doctors over the years that I’ve got problems with my inner ear, particularly regulating the pressure. All of them, apart from this last lady, insisted they were fine. I even had one doctor tell me it was all in my head. After having tinnitus for so many years I doubt it can be reversed at this stage but fingers crossed.
