Hi All, Hope you're all staying safe? A friend of mine sent me a link to Flare Audio's 'Calmer' ear plugs and was wondering if anyone has tired them and what their experience of them is and did it help their Tinnitus?

Hi there. Like you I have seen those advertised and wondered myself if they would help. I have wasted money on trying things and am now very reluctant and get down hearted when nothing helps. Hope someone on here can advise who has tried them. All the best.

Hello. It seems right I should chat here because I ordered a pair which arrived on Friday and so I've been trying them over the weekend. I'm essentially new to trying anything that might help my tinnitus and what I perceive I also have, which is hyperacusis.

Firstly, I don't think this is a cowboy company, I genuinely think they are attempting to make quality audio products that are designed foremostly to protect our ears and listening experience.

The Calmers however are a completely new product which are designed to deflect the intensity of audio waves as they enter the ear, making 'listening' less stressful and more enjoyable.

After wearing them for a few hours at the weekend I did feel a distinct difference, not with my tinnitus but with how I heard everything. What I mean is they helped to lower the overall effect of my sensitivity to sound (hyperacusis). That made me feel less stressed, which in time may help my tinnitus improve....?

After a few hours each day there wasn't any difference in my tinnitus levels.

These are not designed to improve tinnitus. The company does not state this but mentions that some people have noticed an improvement in their tinnitus levels. However, if something creates less stress to the ears, and less stress build up within the head then its easy to see how for some people this 'could' improve their tinnitus.

This reads as if I'm on commission!

I'm not. I'm at ths beginning of my tinnitus voyage, I'm open to these things at the moment, and for £20 for a pair of plugs that should last a long time, I'm open to trying them.

Good luck.

Thanks so much for the info, glad to hear this doesn't appear a cowboy company as there are so many claiming cures. I assumed it was a product to help with habituation so please keep us posted and good luck on managing your Tinnitus.

Thanks, keep us posted. I have just been on a BTA support call and one of the attendees said she had tried them and had helped a little although a bit uncomfortable to wear. The facilitator from the BTA said she would get some more info on Flare and send it to me, so will repost once I have it.

Hi All.

We've been having a lot of comments and questions about Flare's new 'Calmer' ear inserts. I've ordered a pair from Flare and look forward to trying them out to see how they work - I hope to be able to add my experience to this topic soon.

Thanks, I raised this on the BTA support call yesterday. I am not sure if they are in the news as they seem to be paying for Facebook Ad time. Be great to hear (no pun intended :-) ) how you get on with them.
