Tinnitus from Optimize spray?

Hiya, I've had a persistent ear infection for months and the Dr prescribed me Promise spray. My ear was annoying and irritated but I didn't really have tinnitus, however as soon as I started using the Otomize I started hearing a really noticeable hissing/white noise. I didn't think too much of it as I figured it must be to do with the infection, but after reading up it sounds like the Otomize could be causing it? Does anyone know whether Otomize can cause tinnitus and if it's normal or I should too using it? Thanks!

I have had t for ten years and had habituated. Last Summer I was prescribed Otomise and my t really became noticeable once again. The louder t took about nine months to settle down. However, my doctor and the ENT specialist said it xuld have been caused by the Otomise -but I a still convinced that this spray was the trigger (it is ototoxic!)

Hi Jojo. My recent experience mirrors yours. I've had infections on and off for years. After a visit to the ENT in February I had micro suctioning and was told there was signs of an infection. I was also given Otomize. I stopped using it after 5 days when my tinnitus came on all of a sudden and five weeks later is still with me. I've had tinnitus before but never as consistent as this. How something knowingly ototoxic as Neomycin can be prescribed to be sprayed into the ear I really don't know. I also have a grommet inserted so effectively a perforated ear drum making things doubly worse. I can't tell you to stop taking it, I can only tell you that I did - I was then prescribed bog standard oral Amoxicillin and the infection has gone - but I'm left with what I believe to be hair cell damage to my inner ear, caused by the Otomize spray.

Otomise spray is for infection on the ear ear canal, it normally does the trick, but might be good to try Augmentin pills they are very very good.

I have averaged 2 operations a year since 1956, I’m Totally Deaf. I’ve had every operation known to mankind for ears and abscess on & in brain caused by discharge from ear. Instead of coming out discharge travelled up.
