Tinnitus Spikes?

Hi,

First time post here!

How do you guys go about getting through a 'tinnitus spike'? I have had tinnitus for over 12 years now and I am going through the worst spike I have ever had! Normally when it has spiked in the past it has calmed down but this time there seems to be no end in sight. I hear it more than I ever used too (for example i can hear it through headphones whilst listening to music, can hear it when watching TV and even hear it at the gym).

It is really bringing me down at the moment. I thought I had overcome the tinnitus and finally got used to it then this spike has hit me and it's as though I have tinnitus for the first time again.

I pray and hope it goes down eventually as it is so draining on my mental state at the moment.

So any advice on what can be done to try and get me back on track?

Cheers

Hi,

It came about from one night where I had a very bad sleep and ended up being awake all night, then the spike began. It could also due to the fact I have been stressed for a good month now and maybe it just finally hit me! Either way the spike is still here and not going away, very annoying!

Hi, try and keep positive and remember it's only a spike and will return to Base level. 🙏

Am going through a bad spike myself just now ,they usually last for 24hrs this ones been 2 days and I’ve been lying awake now since 0730 this morning after night shift last night ,worried now about ns tonight now ,nothing keeps out the loud hissing noise effectively but listening to a rain app on my phone with earbuds allows me to go running or watch tv in relative comfort.

Hi,

yeah mine normally only last a few days or a week at most, this one has entered its 3rd week and is still going strong! Just gotta power through and hope for the best!

Mine spiked and it hasn't come down yet. I try to stay busy and not focus on the ringing.

Frequently get spikes, anything from 48 hours to several weeks. I know that my spikes will be a lot worse and last longer when I'm stressed, the other thing that causes spikes is loud noise, shopping centres are the worst. Loud music in the centre, different competing music in every store, crowds, it's hell. Have started mindfulness meditation, it's difficult to master but I'm keeping at it
