Enlarged Red Blood Cells

Has anyone had trouble with enlarged red blood cells please? My GP called and said my blood cells are significantly enlarged but that my folate, b12, thyroid, and liver function were all ok. I drink very, very little. She doesn't want to do more tests but I am a little worried. Has anyone else experienced this please?

Hi, MiniGirl22. Yes, I have. And I think still have it going by the private blood test I had done in November last year. On that test it also showed my folate was low so I’ve since sorted that. I’ve read the enlarged red blood cells are an anaemia problem. At first I thought it was B12 as that was very low even though I was supplementing. But I found a way to sort that out by taking Kefir as well as the B12 vitamin in order to get the B12 into my system. But I still don’t know what is causing it. One thing for certain in my case: it is not an iron deficiency because my ferritin level is higher than average as I’m a carrier of Haemochromatosis. Wish I knew the answer. I’ve sent for a book on Breathing as I’m wondering if there’s a connection with my breathlessness.
