I

Good afternoon all. I’ve been in hospital twice for intravenous antibiotics. For about 2 weeks I feel great then it goes back to what to what it was. Now I’ve got the worst chest infection I ever had also a cold. I used my rescue pack of cyprofloxacin but not making any difference. Sorry to be a moan a lot. I’m just feeling sorry. For myself today

It sounds like you are not on the right antibiotics or your bugs have become resistant to them. I was like you are now when I first had pseudomonas. Although ciproflaxin is the oral antibiotic for it my bug became resistant to it. I eventually had two weeks of iv antibiotics (administered at home by me) and then went onto nebulised colomycin. Are you doing sputum samples? BTW are you getting a two week course of cipro? You’re not moaning I know how wretched you feel. I hope you start to improve soon.

thank you Mooka. I seem to be on the same regime as you. When you administered iv’s at home did the result last when you felt better This seems to be my problem. Iv’s make me feel so much better but only lasts about 2 weeks. Hope you continue to feel well.

I’m immune suppressed so I had two lots of iv antibiotics at the same time. I felt great afterwards but as it was pseudonymous causing my infections I had to start nebulising colomycin straight away. Pseudomonas lurks and likes to come out to party if the numbers are not kept down. I’ve been using the nebuliser for nearly six years. I had a really good run with only a couple of infections but I’m now on my third infection since December. This is, apparently, more inline with what my respiratory expects of me. I know these infections are different ones as they present differently.

Are you on prophylactic antibiotics. A lot of people with Bronchiectasis take them three times a week.
