I was born with it 68 years ago and didn't know I had it till 2 years ago! A CT scan showed it up and I did Pulmanory Rehabilition then, it was great ! so your GP could refer to you if there is one locally. Very helpful and good fun. I 'd urge to also learn about huff coughing that also is good. It isn't a really an awful problem. x

If your chest is hurting, it would suggest you are having an exacerbation of your symptoms, and may need treatment.

Although bronchiectasis is generally described as being progressive, it doesn't have to be as in my case because of the programme I have devised and is available in book form. Great idea to try to get referred on to a pulmonary rehabilitation course through your GP/ consultant. You could also discuss your chest pain at the same time.

good luck for the future

Good evening mariangeles I had asthma for years and was always getting chest infections and coughs. Until it wouldn't go away so went back to our doctor and she said could be copd I said I never smoked in my life. So she sent me to hospital where I had two CT scan and that's when it showed up I got mild bronchiectasis. Could of had it for years without even knowing I had it. I been put on 3 inhalers and tablets. Have you been getting lots of chest infections and coughs maybe that could of brought yours on. I know how you feel with having chest pains and I get out of breath a lot now even going up and down the stairs I am out of breath. I have got high blood pressure also and had a blood test done wensenday by thrusday my doctor phone to say that my blood test shown high hyperkalemia and have to have one more blood test again next week to see if it's still the same to do with my kidneys. As the doctor thinks it could be from my blood pressure tablets. I Hope it is not as going through a lot right now. Please let me know how you are and what did your doctors give you for your bronchiectasis
