8 blood tests and 2 others in one go....

Well this is a record for me can anyone else beet it, 10 different tests in one hit, only 3 tubes but be awaiting 10pieces of paper to look at next week.not sure if doctor is now fed up with me and just ticks all the boxes on the screen to keep me quiet for two weeks.

tests are:

LFT- standard two weekly results

GGT - Gamma, taken separate now and not part of LFT

FBC - every month

U&E - not done for 2 months, was concerned due to the high level of Spiro at 300mg and down in one to to 100mg

ESR- raised at 56 should be <10, marker for inflammatory conditions and immune issues. If at same rate then further tests needed as not a one off spoke.

CRP- hand in hand with above ESR, and the further tests on Thyroid and FBC, and Prostate.

Thyroid - not taken in 6 months. As I don't seem to be processing food nutrients into bloods

Prostate- due to my dad having Prostate Cancer, taken every two years, wants to discount any issue here.

Also a FOBT and urine test, Emmm hint rubber gloves needed....to make sure I am not bleeding as having pains around gallbladder area.

Found this web site of use as week in understanding some of the blood test results and what they mean....

medicalhealthtests.com/

Hopefully all okay or as normally stable, but somehow if all okay does it not raise more questions rather than answers...Emmm...part of me wants a bad one so at least I know and then course of action to resolve rather than a loads of tests again and again with more tests.....but guess everyone is in that roundabout....

I can top it at the age of 21 lol... But that's not bragging nobody wants to have all these tests doing! ... I had lft, ggt, ast, alt, esr, crp, afp mom, celiac, kidney function, fbc, tsh, h pylori, udp , igg along wither iga and igf. Then an ultrasound done, . After the bloods were drawn I was bit lethargic but after all that only thing that came back was the bilirubin elevated told it was gilberts syndrome.

10 bottles on the 1st visit & then a call 3 days later to say they needed another 3 bottles. Mine included a test for rats urine! This was the most I have had taken after the initial visit to the consultant. It all gets better & now only 2 bottles every 2 months.

You will feel a bit tired. Rest and hope the results give you all the answers. You will be fine and fingers crossed you will be on the road to recovery.

Ha ha bet you knew I'd chip in Andy! I don't remember ever having 10 vials filled in one go like Clover. With 2 vials my path lab can do Bone Profile, GGT, Liver profile, FBC, Renal profile and U&E.

Every 2 weeks I have Bone Profile, GGT, Liver profile, FBC, Renal profile and U&E., to check on liver function, kidney function, bones, electrolytes and immune system as I'm on a variety of meds to suppress both HBV and autoimmune hepatitis

Every 3 months I have LFT, FBC, U&E, immunoglobulins and Hep B viral load taken to check on my HBV.

Every 6 months I have FBC, LFT, INR clotting rate and AFP (alfa fetoprotein) tumour marker taken by my liver surgeon as part of post liver cancer surveillance.

Every 6 months I have an MRI scan to check for cancer recurrence.

Every 2 years I have a Vit D3 test.

Every 3 years I have an endoscopy to check for varices.

I think that's it - apart from unscheduled 'extras' when things go pear shaped.

I get the surgeon's secretary at one hospital, and the hepatologist's secretary at a different hospital, to send blood test results to my GP. Then I get the secretary there to print them out for me, along with any done by the GP themselves. I collate them all in one place because hospital A doesn't send them to hospital B and neither send them to the GP unless I ask, which would mean I would wait 3 or 6 months to see results and they would be far to old to be of any use.

When I started on this journey I thought I would become a dab hand at blood draws, scans and hospital visits in general, that it would become easier as it became more habitual. How wrong. Each time it gets harder, as you wait for results knowing the path you then take could be any-which-way depending on the latest results.

Ho ya Bolly, you surprised me.

10 vitals is that right, bit excessive think most viral is 6 i had. your regime sounds well structured, like mine they like chucking in a new one every now and again. Looking forward to the FOBT tmr as well, sounds like fun...I got to do it myself too.

I am so glad that I am not the only one with dysfunctional result collation service from 2 hospitals, but my GP is good on getting me the results to me 2-3 days after bloods taken, had the DR ring me up one evening to talk to me about them. It's the hospitals that seem to see the information as not for the patients eye. Again they told me the consultant will talk to you about them in 6 weeks time, to late then guys.

I agree with you too, BTW I thought you were the strong one here, I don't think you can get used to it all these Appointments, Dr, Hospitals, counsellors, pharmacies, DWP, ATOS and then medical assessments.....on top of that with me, a hand surgery and countless physio visits. My diary is busier than when I was running a company.

Well 7 days and I be away on holiday, sod then suggesting might not be the best idea. They have sanction it but told me strictly rest rest rest....oh No alcohol...think I already got that message a few times.

Thanks.....Andy

Think I am still classed as a newbie, 3 months since diagnosed. But agree, without support from forums like this I think I would be going madder....Doctors just don't go into detail that I want, web does but sometimes too OTT so first hand experience and advice is best....
