I’ve had Cryptogenic Liver Cirhosis for the last 16 years.

I was diagnosed in 2009/10 with cryptogenic liver cirrhosis. They tried Azerthioprine and that seemed to level out my bloods additionally they had detected some grade 2/3 varices in the oesophagus which the banded. Since then I’ve had regular endoscopies bar last 4 years as they said there was no change. What I’m finding now though is I’m more prone to catching bugs. First time I had a fever for three nights and that ended up me going to A&E and being bumped around for a week whilst on antibiotics, fluids etc. whilst in hospital I caught cellulitis which they diagnosed as possible DVT and gave me the stomach shots only for my GP friend visiting as kindly requesting them to change the antibiotics to the correct one. Anyway last year I caught something but recovered. In January this year whilst on 7 day holiday in Egypt Sharm, I caught something second day I was there. Staying in a 5 star Rixos resort. That more or less ruined my holiday as it too 4 days to recover. Now I’ve caught something again with my throat painful when swallowing. I had some shivers first night but now it’s day 3 and the throat still red. I’m going to get a FBC tomorrow but just wanted to find out whether I’ve been lucky to not have any serious infections or whether this is how long term usage impacts the body. #azerthioprine
