Hi everyone. I've posted before about my husband who has been diagnosed with cirrhosis last year.he had been really ill for a while and we didn't think he would see Christmas .but since then he has been really stable still gets fluid drained every 3 weeks always around 10 to 12 litres..he dosnt have bleeding .very weak and has a poor appetite. So I'm wondering if his liver has went to compensate .he dosnt have any consultant appointments at the minute.

Nash cirrhosis

Hi there, sending you and hubby much love, only your consultant can give you an idea of what is expected but even that can be very different for each patient. I lost my mum to Nash, she was diagnosed at decompensated stage when she had ascites, and I think survived longer than expected at five years. She didn't have any varical bleeds until 9 months before she died which she had banded. She suffered with HE for some time. Mum wasn't able to improve her livers health but so many on here have. If your consultant has suggested your hubby has a limited time I hope the pallative team are liasing with you xx

Dear Gweans,
If you are in the UK and would find it useful to talk things over, our nurse-led helpline is open Monday 9am to 3pm and Tuesday to Friday 9am to 4pm on 0800 652 7330 excluding bank holidays.
We also facilitate a range of virtual support groups for people in the UK living with a liver condition (and their families and carers). If you would find it helpful to speak to others with shared experience, you can register to join a group here:
