hi all,
My dad was admitted to hospital on Friday with a chest infection and flu, his oxygen saturation was 90% and considered a medical emergency. Once admitted they put him on antibiotics and stopped his liver medication. On Sunday his oxygen saturation went to 17% and they put him in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator. Each day they are reducing oxygen as he is producing more of his own which is good. They also stopped his antibiotics yesterday so I assume the infection has gone. My question is, does it sound right to you that they are not giving him all of his liver meds? I’m due to speak to the consultant about it but I’m concerned that it’s more a lack of care on their part as they aren’t a liver specialist hospital, they deal with acute emergencies, so think they could be making a mistake with not giving him his liver and HE meds. Anyone been through similar and know if this is standard protocol?
