Liver problems?
Hi, if you are concerned about these things, it’s best to speak to a doctor or a specialist because no-one on here can interpret anything really for you as we are not experts. A high or normal GGT with or without cirrhosis could mean anything or nothing for example without knowing a background behind it. What I will say is GGT is a very sensitive liver enzyme that can go up or down wildly due to a number of things, like alcohol consumption, liver disease, medication and even exercise can raise LFTs. Again if you’re concerned for yourself or someone else you should seek to speak to a doctor or someone with more knowledge and ability to do tests and such. Good luck and take care.
I agree with what Grassroots112 said. I would add that in the case of both myself and my husband (we both have a history of heavy drinking) GGT on its own does not seem to indicate anything whatsoever. We have both had instances of it being normal in the face of high consumption or elevated during long periods of abstinence. Also, "drinking beer every day" is not much of an indicator of anything unless the person concerned is monitoring their consumption. A pint of 4% lager every day is very different from several strong Belgian beers which can go up to 12%.
Hello,
We have removed the photo of your test results as this goes against out community guidelines. Test results vary according to both the individual’s whole health and the laboratory analysing the results and should always be interpreted by the user’s own health care professionals.
We suggest talking this through with your own doctor or health care professional.
Best wishes
