Evening all, has anyone been able to find any recipe books for liver health/fatty liver? I have searched so many times but the ones I have found don't appear to have the best reviews. Would really appreciate it if anyone has any tried and tested recommendations. Thank you 😊

Liver health recipe books.
I’d just try the various Mediterranean style recipe books… Spanish, Greek and Italian ones seem to be the best, especially the recipes that focus on lean proteins, healthy fats, salad and veggies. It’s nice food as well so not really a diet.
When I was diagnosed with cirrhosis a few years ago I looked and couldn’t find one. I remember talking to my dietician about it and she gave me some diet sheets which guided me on my required daily intakes and told me to experiment! It needed to be high protein, low salt, low sugar and initially high calories, this changed as my liver started to improve and I put on weight and my calorie content reduced. I discovered that the Mediterranean diet fitted the bill and also found that Indian vegetarian food was great too. I developed some go to recipes which were heavy on chicken, turkey and fish. I also found that lentils, pulses, peas and sweetcorn were a good staple too and mixed them up into delicious curries. Spicy food is great because it masks the low salt content really well. I became a bit addicted to milk and used the half fat stuff. It’s the same protein content as full fat and tastes better than skimmed. I added different fruits and wizzed it up in the blender with a bit of ice…delicious milkshakes, add some oats and a great smoothie. It’s a really useful way of keeping protein content high. I also got handy with the bread maker…using whole meal flour and reducing the salt content in recipes. I was able to craft delicious fresh bread every day…much better than the supermarket stuff with its additives as long as you arm and a salt cellar full for taste! I experimented with herbs and spices for extra taste and made some lovely loafs. I’ve found a happy balance over the years which isn’t so strict that chocolate is completely banned or the odd takeaway isn’t allowed. I keep my food interesting by experimenting with new flavours. I enjoy cooking, but certainly wasn’t Masterchef ready…I’ve learnt to make my own cook book by giving it a go.
