looking for some advice please

My partner has cirrhosis, he’s ascites which has been drained every 3 weeks since June. He was readmitted to hospital with an infection, 2 weeks later his kidneys are dry his blood count is 64 and he’s having a transfusion

He’s on the list for transplant but waiting for an assessment

What does this all mean? He’s lost so much weight, he’s tired and grumpy, it seems it’s one thing after another

any advice please

Hi, I can't directly answer your question but it all sounds like normal cirrhosis symptoms. If you use Facebook please feel free to join our friendly and Facebook page called 'liver transplant support uk ' thousands of people that have been in your situation. We can give you support through his assessment and once in the list.

Hello and as per a previous member reply these do sound exactly like all the symptoms that my husband experienced in the early days, he still has an ascetis fluid drain every 15 days and is awaiting transplant. Grumpy and tired is an understatement of the 10 weeks he had in hospital and return home but with proper medication, diet etc he has got to stable and even improving and although still painfully thin from what he was prior to the illness he is now eating better and has put on weight - every gram is a bonus and a win. Good luck with everything and do as much research with the Liver Trust and maybe consider getting some recipe books (Chirrohsis diet books available online) to get the best nutrition plus ask to talk to a nutritionalist etc.

Best wishes
