I have been a heavy drinker for a while. 10 Years ago I was diagnosed with Alcoholic Hepatitis. I quite drinking for 2 years cold turkey. Subsequent scans revealed my liver had healed. I then had a relapse and rutrned to regular drinking. From January to June of this year it got particularly heavy. I have been sober over 60 days since then. During the heavy drinking period had a ultrasound (was drunk the night before and everyday a week up until scan and results were

Elastography 20.75 kPA with a Metavir 4. Parenchyma was visible.

Since quiting my current numbers are Bili: 1.0 , AST 14, ALT 10, Albumin 3.9, Direct Bili 3.0

I am committed to a program and abstinence one day at a time. When I looked up Ultra sound results I came up with Sever fibrosis between 3 and 4 stage. My primary doctor (not HEPA specialist) thinks that because my numbers have come down, if I don't drink I should be okay. Just looking for thoughts, and advice, and what other measures besides drinking I should take.

Thanks loads, Chuck

You've taken the first, most crucial step, by giving up alcohol - well done! I know it's not easy, but it's essential to your recovery. You can also help your liver by cutting down on salt and sugar in your diet. The British Liver Trust has excellent dietary advice on its website. Good luck on your journey!
