Liver Lesions

Hi, my Ultrasound showed a 9 mm lesion. I know that is not quite 1/2 inch. Would that be anything to be alarmed about? Thank you!

It's not really possible to say. However, whilst some lesions could be problematic the vast majority tend to be more benign things like cysts etc.

Ultrasound isn't the best for identifying what a lesion could be, so don't be too surprised if you are asked to have some further imaging done. That's pretty standard. Your doc should then be able to give you a bit firmer diagnosis.

Hi there Gaspereaux

I too had an ultrasound that showed I had about 4 lesions about 10mm. So my consultant sent me for a MRI which Is more accurate, and afterwards found there was nothing to worry about. Going forward my consultant said she would send me for MRIs In future In place of having ultrasounds. Perhaps you should have a word with your liver team about it. Good luck for the future.

Hi, with anything to do with the liver it’s normal to be alarmed. And it’s best not to ignore these things, but as others have said, hopefully your consultant will do further explorations and confirm that it’s nothing to worry about.

yes, Readlots, that is the thing, we are always worried. At the moment my diagnosis of osteoarthritis is worrying me more!!! And i just had a cochlear implant, which i thought would be so difficult, and i have been blessed with an amazing transition to it!

I'm sort of in the same boat as you, I had a growth inside me in my pelvic region in 2016 and I was admitted to hospital recently with a kidney stone, whilst in the hospital they organised a basic ct scan, but it wasn't my own hospital as I was visiting my mum, so now this growth is considerably larger 6.6 ×7 ×8.2 cm and have got legions around my adrenal glands.

Ultimately I had to have a ct scan with a contrasting dye, I'm due a telephone consultation next Thursday and I'll be hoping they can say what these various growths are, possibly cysts, but obviously I'm worried that this larger growth is going to cause me problems, I'm now in the hands of the specialist, sorry I can't throw any light on your situation, but I wish you well!!!😇
