High ELF score

Hi there, I’m Liz and this is my first post.

I have recently had an ELF score of 9.9. My GP didn’t request this test - I requested it myself because I just wanted to know if my liver was in good condition and healthy. I have had an ELF test In the past which was raised but not unduly so and over the past few years my score has been coming down and down. I was really quite shocked when I got the result. My GP has referred me to a hepatologist and I’m frightened to death of what they will find. For the past few months I have felt exhausted and tend to sleep a lot and I was wondering if my unhealthy liver is contributing to this. I am 61 and used to drink alcohol but not excessively. I try to eat healthily and I exercise and weight train. I’m not sure how long my referral will take but I am really, really anxious about it all already and I was only referred yesterday. So, do you think my extreme tiredness could be caused by my unhealthy/fatty liver?

Thank you

"An ELF Score ≥10.51 suggests advanced liver fibrosis and is an indication for referral to a specialist in hepatology. If the ELF Score is <10.51, then advanced liver fibrosis is unlikely."

Of course you can still have some degree of fibrosis (F1-F2 I think). Also "unlikely" does not mean not possible.

Thank you MINTVCX, that puts my mind at rest somewhat. I guess I’ll have to wait until I get my appointment and try not to worry too much In the meantime.

I got 10.8 but now only got F2 fibrosis 9.9 indicates concern but is less than the 10.51.In Europe 9.8 is the cut off I believe but if 9.8 was the cut off in the UK it would bankrupt the NHS I suspect
