Symptoms of advanced liver disease

Hi Everyone, after long waiting period, I have finally got my first hepatologist appointment after 8 months from now. After this appointment he will refer me for a fibro scan. I am afraid if I have advanced liver disease it will be worst. I do have itchy palms and feet. dull ache in abdomen and I am not sure if it's Terry's nails. I am afraid the fibro scan date won't be early given long waiting time in NHS. Please advise, if I can going for a private scan worth it? Anyone knows a better option near London. Please help🙏

Have you been for any blood tests if not go to GP explain symptoms have a blood test your get the results in a week then they will decide if you might have done any damage to liver least you could know a bit more before your wait for scan to get the full outcome try not to worry liver damage is reversible at a early stage when you got yellow eyes and skin and got ascites they are the symptoms when your liver is really bad. but even then it is still reversible if you drink beer just stop until scan until you know good luck Lon

Hi, Many thanks for replying back. My blood test are normal. Liver enzymes are normal too. Nothing is elevated but my ultra sound scan shows severe fatty liver. My GP says that she is unsure about scarring as ultra sound is not clear enough to deduce if there is liver damage. I tired to stay away from Google but someone told me that I have terry nails. I searched what Terry nails are and I am super stressed now. It's still 8 months to see a specialist

You need to get further tests done, my nails look very similar, although I do have the white moon bit on mine, well some of them like my thumbs. It is a sign of liver disease, but not always a sign of cirrhosis. It isn’t always a sign of liver disease too, it can be diet related, stress related, blood circulation related, nerve damage related. Try not to worry too much and wait until you get further tests and find out what your doctors think. Good luck.

can i ask how they diagnosed the liver issue if ure bloods are all normal. i had elevated enzymes and still couldnt get to see a specialist on the nhs.. i eventually got appointments to see a heart consultant and liver specialist but both were cancelled repeatedlky over the next 18 months. its not been 2 years and hopefully im seeing someone next month. if u have the means get the tests done privately its a lottery on the nhs from my experience and others ive spoke too.

Hi Jaytyson, I am not sure why they haven't referred you. Please speak to your GP. My ultra sound wasn't clear. GP wasn't sure about scarring on the liver. I do have symptoms of advanced liver disease such as itching, pain and terry nails. They want to ensure if there is any fibrosis
