Hi everyone I hope that your are all as well as you can be.
So tomorrow is the hubbys first appointment at the Queens Elizabeth Birmingham.
we are not sure what to expect. Is it like a meet and greet to go knee how Kev got to this point and for them to hear in Kevs own words what’s happened.
I’m assuming (which I hope doesn’t make me an ass😂) that it’s not a decision making appointment that they look listen and say actually no sorry.
Look after yourselves and take care xx

It'll be a meet and greet, history gathering appointment and they'll probably do some blood tests and they'll discuss where your at as regards health, other treatments etc. They might say yes time to assess or they might want to try other options first. They can only say yes/no go transplant after a full assessment which this first appointment isn't part of.
Make sure you've got your notepad, have a list of any current meds and doses, any symptoms, relevant history, any causes of concern and your list of questions.
Thank you for replying. Luckily I have the last post drain info which has the meds on etc. I don’t have any bloods but like you said I’m assuming they will want to do their own anyway.
If they believe what Derby says and if the scams have been sent they will see that there has been no improvement in his liver. But he is fairly well so that’s a good thing.
Thank you Kate and I’m so pleased that your campsite has seen sense xx
I have been with the QE for a few years they are fantastic I had radiotherapy there and I still get 6 monthly consultations with them, my local consultant retired and wasn’t replaced, when I told the QE they immediately wrote to my local hospital and I now have a local consultant as well with 6 monthly follow up telephone consultations from both. MR scans are local every 6 months and the QE get the results as well. You are in good hands and very fortunate. All the best.
I was referred from Derby as well. I think you will find a world of difference between QEHB and Derby. Not saying Derby is worse at all than QEHB but QEHB, imho, is very focussed on Transplants and not “just” general health with liver disease. After 5 years post TP I have just been discharged from QEHB and am under the care of just Derby again. (I was so long at QEHB because of two post TP stomach operations - I saw both QEHB and Derby during the 5 years)
