My husband has 3 grade 2 Varices, they are not bleeding, he is on Carvidelol, do you think it will be safe to fly?

he’s in the right medication but I would double check with his consultant. Ive flown long haul without knowing I’ve had grade 2 Varicies and was not on medication.
I had a bleed randomly and went to A&E and luckily looked after really well and banded. I’m now on carvidelo and not had an issue since.
Point is if he’s been put on meds then the likelihood he is safe to fly. If he had them banded which would be the preference then he wouldn’t be able to fly for at least 28 days.
did they give any reason why they are not banding them ? I have two grade 2 varices and will be asking my consultant in February. Having had a serious bleed which I was lucky to survive I find it odd that they appear to be taking a gamble and relying on Carvedilol. All the best.
actually it can be dangerous to fly and he should get advice from his consultant. If he were to have a bleed in the air and the plane diverted it could open you up to all sorts of issues as I would imagine he will struggle to get insurance until he’s at least 13 months no varices.
I should have said when I had my bleed if I’d been on a plane I would be dead now. It was horrendous blood everywhere we had to replace bedroom and hall carpets, that’s how bad it was. All the best.
