Hi, I was diagnosed with Cirrhosis 4 months ago. First take a breath and stop panicking.
I had a US and a Fibroscan and came back as F4. had appointment yesterday and feel much more settled since then. I have looked at my diet and bought a book fatty liver and cirrhosis meals, have used some of their recipes and then just took ingredients and made my own meal plans.
I've lost 12lbs in 4 months and feel good. I eat more than ever and have small meals/snack every 2-3 hours. The Liver nurse said I was doing everything I needed to do. I do about 4,000 steps a day. Mine is NAFLD so don't have the added problem with Alcohol so feel blessed about that.
They will see me in 12 months but I will have scans and bloods done every 6 months.
Good luck.

You should have your results within 2 weeks maximum, all you can do is avoid alcohol and drink plenty of water and keep an eye on your weight, I was diagnosed over 25 years ago and have only had problems in the past year so looking after yourself is the best way forward. Good luck and stay strong.
Hi.Thank you. I have appointment for an ultrasound on monday. Ithought i was seeing the consultant but not for 6 months it seems. Have had no help or advice or even an appointment with a gp. Not drinking and eating healthy but very anxious. Trying to stay positive.
I've been in your situation and its very frustrating as getting to see a gp is almost impossible, and to speak to the same one is highly unlikely. I'm due for my 3rd endoscopy in 10 months so due to persistently calling and 3 trips to A&E I feel I'm getting somewhere, your liver specialist secretary is worth a call as I found them more helpful than any gp. I'm always here if I can help with any questions you may have. Take care and stay positive
I can only speak for Birmingham Queen Elizabeth Hospital buy you are assigned a clinical nurse specialist who you can email or call directly on their mobile if you have any problems, questions or concerns. They are much more friendly and approachable than some of the consuktabts. Good luck!
