Hi, absolutely normal, at about 5 months post I lost a lot of my hair, doctors said it was down to the trauma of major surgery, only lasted a few months and the grew back again curly!!! There are shampoos you can use to minimise loss, ones that contain biotin but whether they work or not seems to be mixed.I 'talk' to thousands of liver transplant patients online and there's not many that don't loses their hair, it will grow back.

If you use Facebook maybe look up liver transplant groups, there are many and they will give you lots of support.

I'm now 6 years post.

Hi, yes it will grow back. Your body has been through so much and there lots of medication to take. I use shampoo with collagen so it's now nice and thick again. It will happen x

Hi Livergal. The shampoo I use is by OGX Biotin and Collagen shampoo and conditioner. Purple bottles. I wash my hair twice with the shampoo and then condition it. It works for me!

No. I have naturally thick hair but the hair brush was full every morning.I also know a friend who had a transplant around the same time. His hair was finer and thinner than mine but he didn't go bald either. The hair was just general thinning all over. So no need for wigs or hats and after a year or so things got better and my hair now is as thick as it ever was.

It's just a case of being patient I'm afraid.

For me, taking a biotin supplement (cleared with liver consultant) and a biotin/collagen shampoo, (I use OGX) seems to have made a huge, very satisfactory difference to me. I wish you well!
