Earlier this year in March, I saw my GP to ask about HRT, so blood works were done and anomalies found so went for an ultrasound and found to have Fatty liver and hepatic hemangioma. I'm now waiting for a fibroscsn in December and I'm worried and scared. To help myself I've stopped alcohol completely eating a more Mediterranean diet and lost 2 stone so far but am still classed as overweight. Does HRT massively effect liver function? I'm due fo another blood test to check the impact of HRT on my liver. Sorry for long message.

HRT and waiting for scans
Hi, Jeep-Jeep, I have multiple liver conditions but my liver consultant was happy for me to take HRT. I took it for about 7 years and it kept me sane through the menopause. I only stopped when a gynae told me to. I had patches and pessaries so the didn’t go through my digestive tract which felt safest for my liver. Don’t worry about the fibroscan, it sounds like you’re doing all the right things and heading in the right direction
Thanks for your reply, that is most reassuring. Hope all is well with you. 👍
Hi I hope I can help a little bit with this I was on HRT then out of the blue in July I had bad blood test results and rushed into hospital with liver failure. I was in for 3 weeks during which time they stopped my HRT as they needed to make sure it wasn’t a reaction to any meds I was on
I am now diagnosed AIH I do not have a fatty liver or cirrhosis so I am F2 which was established at a recent fibroscan. Don’t be scared I will say and I am now allowed my HRT again as of last week as it has been ruled out as an instigator
Hope that helps
Thanks for your reply. That must have been a scary experience, but I am glad you've got a diagnosis and now treatment, and you're back on HRT. Apart from the hepatic hemangioma all other causes have been ruled (by blood test) and I'm thinking it's AFLD or NAFLD, I'm assuming the fibroscan will provide more information and perhaps then I'll see a consultant.
Like readlots I'm on HRT patches and cream all checked by specialist and ok as not tablets going through the liver. Couldn't function without my HRT.
