I just wanted to know if anyone on here has been pregnant and has portal hypertension (Specifically with esophageal varices as this is my biggest issue/ risk factor).
I’m looking into whether or not this would be possible in the future and am not pregnant now. I am already under the high risk pregnancy clinic . My obstetrician has seen only one lady with my condition who was of course advised not to fall pregnant but in fact she was fortune enough to have an induced c section at 34 weeks resulting in a successful outcome. I don’t have cirrhosis of the liver and my condition has resulted from autoimmune so I am otherwise as well as can be in my situation.
Any advice from people who have experienced this would be much appreciated! 😊

Your having APS as well as varices means you are a rarer case than just someone with portal hypertension and varices ........ you need to be guided and instructed by your own medical team on this one I feel. I believe that Antiphospholipid Syndrome on it's own does bring a lot of complications as regards pregnancy.
I wish you well and hope you get the desired outcome but your medical and obstetrics team as best to advise you on with this situation.
They already have a plan in place for that and see lots of women with APS, well aware I would already be high risk. Medical discussions are still ongoing and am always being guided by professionals, just wanted to see if there’s any other cases with the portal hypertension/varices . As I said, my obstetrician has only ever seen one case, so would be useful to hear if anyone has experienced it themselves 😊
