After a year of trying, I finally have worked my way to appeal (although now waiting for a date). Everything I read about having a representative at the appeal points me to going to CAB for help, but I live in Northern Ireland (and the appeal will be here), and we don't have CAB. I can't find anything to tell me where to go for help instead.
Can anyone tell me where to apply for a representative?
See if your local council have a welfare rights team, we are in Scotland and coubcil welfare rights worker attended with us and prepared appeal evidence etc.

Fightback4justice are excellent, if they can’t represent you they can prepare all the paperwork etc, maybe even do a live link to the appeal.
We used them for my husbands two appeals, the solicitor did travel down to us from Manchester, and both decisions overturned and awarded enhanced on both component’s.

we were supported throughout my partners claim by a local charity to us so there maybe a smaller local support that assist people with things like benefit claims and so on. Your local library (if you still have one) might be a good place to start in terms of tracking down local support

benefitsandwork.co.uk publish guides and advice on claiming and appealing things like PIP. I found their advice helpful when trying to claim for my disabled sister. It costs about £20 to join. Depending on your health issue they publish "success rates". so you can judge whether it might be worthwhile. I think they also offer some sort of money back guarantee.
