Ultrasound Results

I have very elevated liver funtion results which showed up on my over 40s health check. I was ref for an urgent ultra sound.

My GP has reviewed the results and said the following

Over extended gallbladder – half filled with sludge

intrahepatic dilation

tiny calculi

Very significantly dilated CBD with no cause for obstruction

could not see pancreas on scan.

He has now ref me for an urgent referal at the hospital, should I be concerned. Until very very recently (after the blood tests) I feelt fine. Recently I have been feeling bloated and feeling sick, along with a bit of admonal discomfort. Which I think is worry related with regards to this an the fact my Dad has cancer and another family member has just died of cancer very young.

I am now very worried due to the urgent referal.

HiI can understand your concern, particularly given your family history. Its good that your gp has done an urgent referral for you. In most cases thats just to be on the safe side, it's still rare that cancer is found, even with urgent referrals.

A lot of what you describe could very well be down to the stones in your gaul bladder that are forming or may have even passed through. However, there are other diseases of the liver that can impact on the bile ducts, so its good that these can be checked for too. Again just to be on the safe side. These too are rare.

Hopefully, this will just be a relatively straight forward gaul bladder issue. I send you my best wishes and fingers crossed its something relatively simple.
