Had a Fibroscan today.

Well had quite a long journey and a terrible time parking but I made it. Got on the couch and after 3 minutes "sorry, not getting a reading as it says your liver is too deep".

I replied that it must be my weight. My BMI is 68, it is coming down. The lady used the XL probe but she showed me the screen, liver too deep. She claimed it wasn't my weight and she gets half a dozen a day and even on skinny people. I personally think she was being kind.

Anyhow, no idea where we go from here. 😔

I think she was being kind as well.My BMI is 40, they switched me to 6 monthly MRI instead of ultrasound.

The rather rude US radiographer said to my face that they should stop sending fat people to him because it's difficult to see past the fat.

Being obese myself I think I can say this without causing offence.

Your weight is going to kill you!

I hope your seeking help with weight loss.

Your earlier comment about latte and sweetness means your probably not getting advice.

Only good thing about both of our BMIs is that we will piss off the undertakers that carry our coffins!

Thank you so much for your input. I feel sad you seem to not be getting treated so well, especially by the US staff. Did you make a complaint?I think you missunderstand about the latte. I am using unsweetened almond milk now which is apparently good for a damaged liver. The sweetness is getting less as I am slowly cutting down and adjusting to the taste of coffee. The only other drinks I have are black tea, no sugar, (since 1981), and water.

I lost 2.1kg in the first 3 weeks. My HbA1c dropped from 54 7.1% to 51 6.8% in 3 weeks. I have had a letter of congratulations from both my GP and Diabetic Nurse.

I have been discussing my results and diet with the nurses at The British Liver Trust and I am following a Mediterranean style diet with lots of seafood, leafy greens and oily fish and low carbs.

Not getting a Fibroscan result yesterday was disappointing but there are other ways of assessing the level of fibrosis.

Hope you have a great weekend 🙂
