Had a fibroscan 3.5 years ago after some history of raised AST and ALT (AST was usually around 40 and ALT around 57). Ultrasound had shown mild fatty liver and ALT had gone up to 120.
Fibroscan score was 5.3 kpa with cap score of 255.
Advice given was keep trying to lose weight.
I’ve recently had bloods done again. AST was 41 ALT was 55. HBA1C was 34 and triglycerides 0.9.
Ive used calculators to calculate Fib4 and APRI scores. Fib4 is 0.93, APRI is 0.4 I think these suggest no fibrosis
My question is how reliable are these scores? I know the NHS are using Fib4 now
Any insight appreciated
Thanks
Jen

i wish ihad yourr scores mine was 13.5 i think you worry too much about reliability .only liable to give a false score if overweight liver inflamed or machine malfunction.
it’s hard to get a good answer on this, it seems all these tests have some discrepancies and every chart you see with fibroscan and such is all over the place not sure what to believe anymore . My Fib 4 and Apri didn’t agree with original fibroscan in august. 6 months after a weight loss of 45 plus pounds I did a blood test fibrosis acti test came back minimal fibrosis and fib4 and Apri all normal range . Recent ultrasound normal size and Homogenous parenchyma. I wish I did the blood test the same Time as if fibroscan to correlate against it. But my dr said the blood tests are a good measure as well and the proof shoes in the sonogram report. Still wants a repeat of fibroscan in august he said originally don’t worry about numbers loose the weight and you’ll see the results .
