liver disease and veins

anyone with liver disease notice their veins are becoming more visible? I haven’t been diagnosed but am a nurse and know I have done damage based on the symptoms I get when I’m drinking. Now I’ve noticed also that my veins in my abdomen and legs are more visible like they are congested by blocked circulation from damaged liver. Now I don’t mean those huge bulging veins that are so obvious in severe liver disease, I just mean I can see more blue veins thru my skin. I’m a 37 year old female. Not drinking for a couple months minus a couple blips.

Hi, I don’t know if that is liver related, I’ve just been putting it down to aging, I probably started noticing veins when I was about your age. Funny it never seems to be the weins nurses need for blood tests though 🤪

The veins on the abdomen become visible in cases of portal hypertension, and they don't necessarily have to be large veins that are described and photographed for medical books and journals. My veins on the abdomen are hardly visible, but they can be well felt with the fingers under the skin of the abdomen.

Gosh yes, ive notice my viens in my hands and feet, never saw them before. i was diagnosed with liver cirroshis in november 2020. make sure you get checked over. take care
