does anyone know the average size of a liver for a woman who’s 50. I’ve been told that mine is 12.5 which indicates fatty liver. 12 months ago my liver was normal. I stopped drinking and now it’s fatty. I’m so confused and having no support. Some advise say no dairy then others say it’s ok

The normal liver weighs 1.4 to 1.5 kg in men and 1.2 to 1.4 kg in women

This is more likely to be a test result rather than the size of your liver.

You may find it useful to talk things over with one of the nurses on our helpline, which is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm on 0800 652 7330 (excluding bank holidays)

Best wishes
