I had a fibroscan last August with results of steatosis S3/ Fibrosis F3. My fib4 at time was 0.80. Sonogram revealed steatosis as well. Went straight to work on changes and did a Fibrosis/acti test in February results F-1-F2. And no necroinflamation activity A-0. Fib 4 as well 0.70 also follow up sonogram reported minimal steatosis . The one thing I wish I would have done differently from day one was I would have liked to have had the Fibrosis test/acti test done at the same time of the fibroscan to see if the fibroscan was accaurate . I’m not sure what other parameters are used to come up with fibroscan results. What’s everyone’s thoughts on all these different exams

Thoughts on different tests
Indeed, there are recommendations for the simultaneous use of fibroscan and biochemical tests for fibrosis in order to reduce the possible error of each of them.
thanks for the reply, when I had my fibroscan my recent bloods where not up to date, I was never told how they came up with my score. Fib 4 with the most current bloods to that test was less than the fibroscan suggested and the blood work a month later fib4 was same lower that fibroscan suggested. 6 months later fib4 was lower and fibrosis/acti test showed F-1-2 compared to fibroscan F-3. So at this point my dr said keep eating better and keep weight off. I have a repeat of fibroscan in august, I just wish I did that blood test fibrosis /acti test around same time as fibroscan. And like I said never told what parameters where used with fibroscan.I do have NAFLD
This is an interesting post, I find it all very confusing, my ultra sound ( for something else) showed severe fatty liver (s3) but it was called hepatic steotosis (not cirrohsis) I then had a cat scan again for something else and they picked up on diffuse fatty liver, my fib 4 calculations by the dr ruled out advanced fibrosis, my dr told me if my liver was corrosive it would have shown as small and shrivelled on the scans, my bloods were normal although it did worry me that my ast was higher than my alt, even so I got the shock of my life a few weeks ago when my fibro scan showed a kpa of 21.5 , this was the only really bad test 😥 and even now I’m praying by some miracle that it is wrong, but maybe I’m just in denial xx
what did the Dr say about the fibroscan results?
my Dr admits she does not know much about the liver , she just said the report says severe liver impairment ( reads as liver failure and cirrohsis on line) I don’t know how they could say that without doing recent bloods , unless because the kpa is so high it’s good enough, I have not seen or heard anything from hep dr, I just had the scan and was left alone 😥xx
the information and r results are all over the place with testing. Fibroscan is a new test in my area and I’ve read a lot of controversies on them . Or I should say people getting different results .for me my fibroscan came up as F3 and steatosis. recent ultrasound minimal steatosis and I had a blood test called Fibrosis/Acti test through Quest labs and results are now F-1 -F-2 and activity level A0. That was 6 months after fibroscan and loosing 50 pounds and getting My A1c to normal. So I’m hoping the recent blood test is accurate. My Dr said loose the weight and you will see the changes come and don’t pay attention to numbers. My fib 4 around the time of fibroscan said differently than the fibroscan did. So I wish I would have had that blood test to see if fibroscan was accurate. My last visits with Dr he said that the blood test was a good measure but repeat fibroscan in august
